Alex received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Ohio Northern University (ONU) in 2018. While at ONU, Alex conducted research with Dr. Jake Zimmerman on the synthesis of novel sulfonamido-chromone derivatives, useful as fluorescent chemical sensors in the detection of fluoride and various metal ions. He also worked on the synthesis of coumarin-based fluorescent probes for the selective targeting and imaging of the endoplasmic reticulum in cells. While at UT Austin Alex worked on the development of novel BODIPY dyes as efficient photoredox catalysts to induce polymerization upon exposure to visible light. He now works as a Research Scientist at UES, Inc. in their Biological & Nanoscale Technologies Division in Dayton, OH.
